your guide to the pisces lunar eclipse

[Pisces Eclipse ~ Sep 17, 2024]

Welcome to your second eclipse season of 2024. Let’s talk about it. This is usually the time when people come out of the woodwork to ask me what the heck is happening in the sky and what all the eclipse TikToks mean. And if I'm not here for that, what am I here for?

During your annual Virgo season, the last thing you may feel like doing is drifting off into the void of some intangible, transient process. But for some reason, the cosmos is asking us to do just that—and adding a ton of resistance to it in the process (yay!)

SO—Eclipse season is simply a four-week period during which we experience both a full moon and a new moon that bend the usual rules of light and dark. The sun and moon are aligned in unexpected ways, and things can get a little weird for everyone.

Eclipses always come in pairs, meaning we get two eclipses in a row: one full moon eclipse and one new moon eclipse.

Here's the schedule:
Sept 17: An eclipse in Pisces, a full moon 🌕
Oct 2: An eclipse in Libra, a new moon 🌑

So, what does this mean?

🦋 TRANSFORMATION: Eclipses are peak periods of change, where life illuminates what is shifting within and around us. They are markers for transformation, showing us what we are ready to release in our lives while giving us a glimpse of the newness being ushered in as a result.

Old things leave, and new things come in, and it can take around six months for that to integrate. We have eclipses twice a year, and they determine where we are changing in a given year—the eclipse season being a peak period for these shifts. That’s an eclipse season in a nutshell.

🌚 UNSEEN SHIFTS: Eclipses flip the rules of light and dark to illuminate things differently for us. Think of the blazing sun beaming light onto the shadow of the moon—blasting illumination into our shadows. There’s a reason animists say that dark spirits run rampant during eclipses. To be honest, I’ve had direct experience with that take. I wouldn’t recommend opening your energy to crowds of strangers or exposing yourself to alcohol or any other spirits. Just keep it quiet, clean, and clear. It all happens beneath conscious perception. You won’t see monsters in a shopping mall per se, but maybe avoid the mall, you know?

This particular transformation and unseen shift will first be expressed in the energies of Pisces.

On Sept 17, 2024, our annual Full Moon in Pisces will be eclipsed by the sun, making it completely invisible in the night sky. People don’t make a big deal of lunar eclipses because there’s no visible anomaly to watch—and therein lies the symbolism. There’s nothing to see here, just massive change happening without you noticing 👀.

There is an inner, and unseen, shift in the sign of Pisces.

Pisces is all about: sensitivity, the heart, the non-physical, liminality, the mystical, dreams, visions, channeling, projections, the dissolving of ego and reality to reveal source, and the intangible 🤙

There is something around these topics that is subtly changing right now and will reveal itself in far more detail in 2025 as we have more eclipses along this axis.

Life themes and topics that come up around this time:

Sensitivity / Empathy
Being in Service
Mystical / Metaphysical
In Between Two Worlds
Confusion / Deception
Creativity / Dreaminess
Escapism / Avoidance
Intuition / Gut Feelings
Healing
Love

As a very blanket statement, I can imagine this Eclipse will test the clarity, certainty, and concreteness of your life. The truth could easily slip through your fingers while you're trying with all your focus to find it.

The reason for that is what the planets are doing on top of the symbolism of the eclipse itself.

Mercury in Virgo is trying desperately to figure out what’s going on, and it has no chance while it opposes this lunar eclipse. This eclipse is sandwiched between Saturn and Neptune—planets that couldn’t be more unalike.

Saturn is the influence attempting to ground and concretize reality.

Neptune is the influence that dissolves reality, confuses, inspires, and deludes.

I see an attempt to meld two opposing realities that contraindicate each other.

Things like trying to ground reality in an illusion. Trying to find boundaries within fluidity. Trying to find clarity in vagueness. Trying to find logic through intuition. Good luck.

In its more positive interpretation, I could see groundwork being set for something elusive. Fantasies coming into form. Spirit could anchor into the work we are doing. A creative commitment emerging out of thin air.

However, Neptune tends to dissolve everything, so this may be the beginning of a slow fading dissolution of previous structures in our lives—rigidity losing the edge it once had—a project drifting into the void. And because there are aspects to Uranus and Pluto involved, some part of this will feel like an inevitable change that needed to happen.

Though these will develop in their own Pisces timeline over the next couple of years, what I can say about this present moment is that trying harder to figure it out won’t get you far. Things are certainly happening; you may not have conscious awareness of how, what, and who, but they are.

Liminality is extremely potent during this time—making it ideal to feel, dream, create, get inspired, and express, but certainly not to decide anything life-changing—unless you’re okay with a potentially huge Pisces mess. And if any of you have had challenging experiences with a person with a ton of Pisces in their chart, you know exactly what that mess can be like.

A sign that shines so brightly in its gifted connection to the non-physical and liminal always has the potential to cast a shadow of muddled emotional terrain, confusion, inconsistency, and veils upon veils. We all have them, by the way—no shade on Pisces. We just have to collectively deal with these things right now (apparently).

There is a longer timeline of Pisces eclipses over the next two years beginning to influence you now, and that doesn’t need to materialize and be known consciously right now, nor can it be fully.

Once again, this isn't a time of action. It's a time of noticing. All the moon and sun are doing is illuminating things you don’t usually see.

This Full Moon impacts you according to where Pisces is located in your natal chart, and if you have planets at 25° of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). If you have no idea what that means, the 333family is the place to ask all of your astro questions 🤓.

HOW TO PISCES FULL MOON

⭐️ Allow for Contradiction

It's okay for things to be enigmatic during a Pisces transformation—that's kind of the point. Embracing all that something is, is part of the learning. Don't try to find the one and only answer at this time. It will fluctuate and expand, and that’s okay. The last thing you need to do during a Pisces Full Moon is figure something out.

⭐️ Is It Really Yours?

Pisces amplifies our extra-sensory antennas. We often pick up a lot more than we realize during these times. It’s not always easy for Pisces to discern reality from illusion. So make sure that what you feel, what you think, and what you do is coming from a truth within you, not from someone or something else.

⭐️ Don’t Take It Personally

This lunation highlights a Venus opposition to Chiron, which can facilitate relational triggers or upsets. I honestly think most people are deeply confused or delusional right now, so I really don’t recommend creating worldviews or taking on impressions from others that aren’t grounded in reality.

⭐️ Feel It All

The secret to navigating this energy is to fully embrace all that you feel, with no exceptions—even if it sucks. Feelings are the superintelligence of Pisces. They communicate all the information we need. When we have access to emotions, we have access to the information that will guide us home.

⭐️ Opt for an Emotional Release Instead

Normally, I highly encourage letting things go during Full Moon phases, as it’s our monthly opportunity to release something we don’t need to hold onto. However, Neptune’s influence over this Full Moon makes me hesitant to encourage sudden, inspired choices to change something that has immediate tangible impact. Though Neptune enhances intuition, Neptune’s cloud of fog could lead us in directions we may regret later. He’s a tricky one like that, so if you want to play it safe, I would opt for minimal impact releases at this time—releases that change your state, not your life—at least for now.

⭐️ Think Back to March

Reflect on the time around the New Moon in Pisces, March 9, 2024. What were you beginning then? What seeds were you planting? Who were you at that time, and what were your dreams and desires? Notice the evolution over the past six months. How have you grown, evolved, and expanded within these Pisces themes since then? Celebrate yourself and take genuine moments to honor and congratulate your remarkable spirit. Acknowledge and give yourself the well-deserved recognition for all that you've learned and become since March. 🌹
